We are proud to report on the current progress of the construction of the Dell Bus Facility in Hempstead, NY. The project consists of a 3 story 10,000 SF office building, along with a 3,480 SF maintenance facility. Labor for the project is estimated to amount to approximately 30 full time annual construction jobs. In addition, Dell Bus projects 40 full time and 40 part time jobs after year two of operation at their new facility.
Since breaking ground in February, the site drainage and building foundations have been completed and the steel frame is currently being erected. To date, all work has complied with local Community Benefits hiring requirements and local Hempstead contractors and laborers are playing an active role in the development of the project.
Funding for this project was made available from a 1031 exchange and subsequent sale of the site previously occupied by Dell Bus at 180 Main Street to Estella Housing. Estella plans to develop the former Dell site with 96 units of housing along with ground floor retail space in an effort to activate this now defunct stretch of Main Street adjacent to the LIRR station.
This is the first of what we hope will be many projects in the Village of Hempstead. We look forward to a continued partnership with the local Hempstead community & workforce, and are extremely optimistic about the many significant opportunities that lay ahead!
